The NorCal ITG scene is completely dead, but I'm near a working machine again, and it just got a new monitor. Unfortunately, the pads are just starting to give errors now, so I don't know how many new records I'll get.

Times have changed...I've gone through multiple jobs in the past year, and I'm now in Bloomington, Indiana for grad school, where I'm pretty sure there's no ITG nearby. When I'm on breaks, I still prefer to play according to how I want to. I'm still not going to be a truly hardcore player, and I still won't play charts I hate.

It's still just a game. I still just want to have fun with it. I still see no reason to play anything that just leads to pain, anger, or frustration.

***************************

I've been playing dance games VERY on-and-off since 2003, and you might know me as the mod from PumpHaven who goes by the SN of "the_peacemaker". I started with Pump in January '03, got into DDR in July '04, then tried ITG for the first time in June '05. I'm still primarily a Pump player, but Fleadh Uncut is the song from heaven. I'll never get tired of it no matter how many times I play it, and it still has the only ITG2 Doubles chart I really like. (Which sucks, because I happen to love Doubles mode.)

I'm a Cornell alumnus, and when I went there, I played on a HORRIBLE crapocab machine in the Pyramid Mall. (Seriously, on the occasions where the pads weren't giving errors, they still felt like hard slippery rubber, and that gets tiring pretty fast.) I don't use my USB's for this game, and I take whatever scores I get even if they have pad errors.

Since I am a natural-born Pump player, my way of playing forces me to literally have to pick up my feet off the pad to hit any arrow. I can't flat-foot ANYTHING, which makes it hard for me to get anywhere with songs that have long and fast runs. So in general, most  Smiley songs or any song with long fast runs are NOT FUN for me. Yeah, if you're wondering why my 11's and 12's scores are so low, I CAN'T PASS MANY OF THEM ON ANY GIVEN DAY. And no, I can't pass any 13's, and I don't think I ever will. I've pretty much decided at this point that 12's are where the fun stops anyway - even if I do pass any of them, the pain afterwards is not worth the achievement.

Oh, and Disconnected, Delirium, and Determinator are garbage charts and I don't care HOW easy anyone else says they are, NO ONE CAN FORCE ME TO PLAY THEM. (Those damnable D's...I have to say I don't really like Destiny much either.)

Yeah, I suck at this game. But you know what despair.com says: "If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly". And I'm totally fine with that.
